Warehouse Lofts – 312 N May (66 Units)

Warehouse Lofts

The developers of this West Loop warehouse conversion took extra care to give these lofts a little something special. The units are full of unique architectural accents and distinctive design elements. Reminiscent of a commercial art studio, the Warehouse Lofts are big, spacious and impeccably thought-out.

The six-story brick and timber warehouse at 312 North May Street is the perfect backdrop for luxury loft residences. The original building dates back to 1925 (although by some accounts it may have been built in 1899). Soaring ceiling heights and mammoth dimensions make for a wide open living space that takes the breath away. Large metal heating ducts snake below the broad timber rafters overhead, some of which have been strategically painted to emphasize the lofts’ striking 13-foot wood ceilings. Oversized windows are nestled within the exposed brick exterior walls and hardwood floors stretch from the living room to the dining area, kitchen and foyer hall beyond.

Speaking of kitchens, the ones in Warehouse Lofts are considerably bigger than the typical chef’s layout found in so many Chicago loft properties. The U-shape design is still handy for cooking however the wider floor plan and additional cabinet space is much appreciated. For the most part, Warehouse Lofts have stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite counters and elevated breakfast bars. Instead of being totally open to the main living area, some units have huge window-style cut-throughs – another feature that bucks the trend for loft construction.

One-bedroom units at Warehouse Lofts are usually between 1200 and 1600 square feet, while two-bedrooms can boast square footage of 3400 or more. The sprawling arrangements include tons of closets and generous bathroom sizes. There is also plenty of extra storage for residents in the building, plus an amazing multi-level rooftop deck with unobstructed views of the city skyline, bbq grills, picnic tables and ample room for outdoor entertaining.
