Timber Gallery Lofts – 420 W Ontario (30 Units)

Timber Gallery Lofts

Timber Gallery Lofts are fashioned out of an old brewery that once supplied beer for Chicago’s famous Berghoff Restaurant. Traces of the brewery’s existence were purposefully left in place when it was converted to lofts, purely for atheistic charm. The loft name stems from its location amidst River North’s reputable gallery district, which is packed with fine art shops and trendy restaurants. In fact, aged beer vats from the former brewery are used as décor in one of the area’s most popular dining spots for Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, Reza’s Restaurant.

The two-bedroom, two-bath units at Timber Gallery Lofts offer 1160 – 1400 square feet of living space. As expected from loft properties, these residences have open floor plans with exposed brick walls and especially tall ceilings. Some lofts feature original details from the brewery, such as gigantic hooks that hang from the overhead cross beams, which were previously used to hoist heavy materials like bags of barley. The big sliding metal doors also remain intact, although the openings behind them are now bricked up. Even the skylights on the fourth floor were left untouched, giving the three- and four-bedroom penthouse units a unique architectural aspect not often available in loft designs.

Within the dramatic interiors of Timber Gallery Lofts are state-of-the-art amenities and luxury finishes. All units have beautiful hardwood floors and gorgeous timber ceilings. Granite countertops and backsplashes outfit the kitchens and cultured marble graces the bathrooms. The master en suites have deep soaking tubs with ceramic surrounds and designer faucets for the double-bowl vanities.

Modern upgrades to the building include a new elevator, insulated thermal-pane windows, and pre-wiring for phone, cable, and high-speed Internet. Timber Gallery Lofts also has an intercom entry system with security cameras in the main lobby. The units are set up for washer and dryer hook-up, and have individually controlled central air and heat. Indoor garage parking is available to residents and some units have their own rooftop decks.
